Re: Female Auxiliary Photographs
Hello Max,
she's from the Luftschutz-Warndienst (LSW) [air raid alarm service]. BTW the way the pic was already shown here http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 18#p952918. Wouldn't be the first time someone offers photos on Ebay taken from AHF.
Best regards
Torsten

I have no idea where thiat was taken but I can't imagine it would have been anywhere in England. Maybe somebody can recognize it. I would guess somewhere in France.

Ahhhhhhh,
an architecture quiz. I love those. It's Queen Wilhelmina Pier in Scheveningen (Netherlands). The structure was destroyed in a fire on March 26th, 1943 so the Helferinnen photo can be roughly placed in the time frame summer 1940 - early 1943.

Scroll down the page for comparison photos.
The old sea pier in Blankenberg(h)e (Flanders) was quite similar in design but that one was burned to the ground (or should we say sea surface?) by German forces in 1914 to prevent it being used as a landing site by the Brits.

Re: Female Auxiliary Photographs
Yes - the pier on the photo is typical of many English piers on the East coast, South coast and West coast during the time of the War.

Re: Female Auxiliary Photographs
hallo everyone,
not sure this is the correct topic for my questions, but I've just joined the forum, so I am still learning how it works
I am a reenactress, and I've recently started having german auxiliaries uniforms made by a tailor. I'd like to have one piece for each of the most iconographic.
At the moment i have a Nachrichtenhelferin des heeres (basic service, + the grey work dress and the white summer version). Then i have a LW helferin uniform, a DRK one and I'll soon finish also my Flakhelferin uniform.
I'd love to have a RLB/Luftschutz helferin as well (the classic boiler suit + gladiator helmet)
But i am having troubles finding the correct info about it. I have tons of books and i read tons of forums but none of them is really precise.
I really hope some of you can help me with this information:
- which is the correct color of this suit? (brown-grey-blue/grey or feldgrau ?)
- what was made of? I've read HBT/drillich. Is it possible?
Does anyone have or knows where I can find pictures of this suit in color? Like taken from a collection or something?
because I really want to make a good job with the reproduction but i only have black and white pictures.
Thank you SO much,
Adelheid
