Shop in St. Petersburg

Postby Der Max on 10 Jul 2012 13:44

I am about to visit Russia and St. Petersburg and I have a few souvenirs I'd like to pick up while I am there.
The first one is a pair of cavalry boots, the second one is a Shashka sabre (or any other sabre for that matter) and the third one is a Papaha a headgear used by the Kuban Cossacks.
Now, I am on a limited budget and I am not looking for the old expensive antiques (except perhaps for the sabre) and I wonder if someone would perhaps know where to buy these in the Imperial City.

Grateful for all the help I can get!

If you have no luck in St. Petersburg, there is a military shop in Tallinn. It seemed relatively well stocked, with both Russian and German items. If he doesn't have what you want maybe he could help (though he wasn't the most friendly person).

So, I can recommend gift shop in Artillery museum - Alexander Park, 7(http://www.artillery-museum.ru), also in House of Military book - Nevsky Prospect, 20. (http://www.peterburg.ru/places/dom-voennoy-knigi), but cheapest option - army store, address here http://armygoods.ru/shop_content.php?coID=20 and here http://www.voentorgspb.ru/ru/contacts.html, and "7.62" shops - http://www.7-62.ru/index.php?aux_page=aux3 and shops "Old soldier/soldier of fortune" - http://soldat-udachi.ru/?p=nekadress. I am not sure, that you can find all in one place. Remember, that in Russia by local orders you can not buy really weapon - only a replic, for example http://sld.ru/catalog/modeli-oruzhiya/k ... 04-g-.html
If you have russian friend in Petersburg, I also can advise visit an Apraksin market, there also some souvenir shops, but to my mind for foreigners better do not go there alone - is not the safest place.
Good luck!
