Soviet Perechen List 15
Does anyone have a translation of list 15;
"infantry and cavalry regiments, not present in the composition of divisions, as well as motorized infantry regiments, regiments of the Guard and Reserve officers who were part of the active army during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

Do you need all of it or just parts of it? If just part, then what sections.

Re: Soviet Perechen List 15
Hello Jeff,
To be honest, I am not sure.
What I'm hoping for is which pre-war units were where, and then, when and to what front line command they were assigned to initially. And for those formed during the war, the same, where and when assigned to a front line command for the first time.
Hopefully that's possible?
Anyway thanks, Scott

The 'Perechen Lists' tell you: The name of the unit, the dates the unit was in combat, and what unit it was converted to / from. None of the things you are interested in. An off-hand quess would be that you would need to consult 5-6 different sources, all in Russian and probably without pointers to the information you are interested in, to get an idea of what information is / might be available.
I assume your Russian is poor or non-existant, if so your task will be very difficult becuase you won't be able to tell when an automatic-translator is giving you garbage.
One ray of hope is that there are three Russian Books that deal just with the Soviet Order of Battle at the start of the war. On the down side - I have forgotten their names. I have posted about them but couldn't find the post. Will keep them in mind and post the titles if I can find them (lots of Russian material is available as torrents so not all hope is lost.)

Re: Soviet Perechen List 15
Well, my Russian is non-existent. And I can't get the djvu to open to even run it through a translator.
As near as I can tell, there were 44 independent regiments on 22 June 1941 (from a stray comment from Glantz).
The name of the unit and its date(s) in combat may allow me to infer a workable solution.
Any idea where I could find a translation of list 15?
Thanks again, Scott.

Almost all (if not all) must be Rifle Replacement Regiments.

Re: Soviet Perechen List 15
Glantz has a table 5.1 in "Stumbling Colossus" which lists "Rifle Force Expansion" from 1939 to 22 June 1941.
On 1 January 1941 there are 44 "Separate rifle regiments" that weren't there in previous years.
Doesn't mention it in the text, only on that table.
So, I have no idea what they are or where they are.
