Sabres with/without rifle bayonet mount on scabbard. You can see the difference down the link:

Hello again,

Does it say anywhere which unit(s) provide(s) administration, mess, and supply to the Division Headquarters and Staff, Artillery Commander, Training Company (Shtat 04/553), Veterinary Hospital (Shtat 04/562), JAG Section (Shtat 04/417), Field Post Office (Shtat 04/69), and State Bank Field Office (Shtat 04/16)?

Cheers
Leo

Divisional HQ received all kind of supplies from a signal company as mentioned in 04/550. Chemical company and veterinary hospital were for supply purposes attached to "one of divisional units" (quotation). I guess the same for other small elements.

This all seems very detailed. Does it give information about the horse drawn wagons when it refers to 1 horse wagon, etc?

Transport for each subunit is detailed straight after the personnel, along with the number of draught or artillery horses for wagons and carts. The front page normally gives a summary of the various types of horse drawn transport and its use (eg, mortars, MGs, medical, signals equipment) but the tables only total the number of horses at the end.

Is anyone else having trouble with the pamyat-naroda.ru site? I haven't been able to view any documents since Wednesday (25 Nov), even though the search engine finds them.

Cheers Eugen. I got back in just yesterday, after about four days of the spinning download circle of doom!

Hi,
Field Post Office, Field State Bank and Veterinary Hospital received support from Rear Department as did the Medical Battalion.
Which unit is the "Rear Department" ?
Are you sure about the medical battalion? It has its own Service & Mess Platoon [5. Хозяйственный взвод ].

Leo referring to the Shtat diagram at the start of this thread.
The structure of the Division is laid out in its chain on command and the small units of the division are shown in their subordinate places. This layout is followed in the Staff of the Division Shtat 04/550. In this scheme the small units such as the Bank, Post Office and Vet Hospital are shown in the top right hand corner under the "Deputy Divisional Commander of the Rear" and under the "Department of the Rear Services". The balance of the small units are shown in the top left hand corner under the Staff and draw their rations from the only sizable unit in the staff, the Signals Company. Similarly the only sizable units of the Department of the Rear are the Medical Battalion (91) and the Bakery (55) and the Motor vehicle company (88) but the only one at the Rear HQ is the Medical Battalion, so I would imagine that their mess fed the staff, the bank, post office and vets. This follows the structure of both the Front and national Rear Services which were responsible for these areas
