Clothing worn by NKVD in Gulag?
Clothing worn by NKVD in Gulag?
I'm doing a small animation if possible. If let's say there were two NKVD members interrogating prisoners in the Gulag, what would they be wearing?A uniform, plain clothes or some sort of winter wear?It would be helpful if someone can include a pic.

The book "Uniforms of the Soviet Union 1918-1945" has a number of pictures of NKVD uniforms ect.
The book "Terrorism: From Robespierre to Arafat" has a drawing of a Gulag camp with a couple of guards in it.

Oops.Just discovered that the The NKVD was dissolved in 1946.My animation is set in the 60s so I cannot use the NKVD for the story line.
Who would do the interrogations if there were no more NKVD?The KGB?Or just regular prison guards?
What would the clothing of the interrogators look like in a 1960s gulag setting?
Edited:Sorry for getting off topic.I just realized the topic shouldn't go further than 1945.by the time I realized,it was a little too late.

NKVD was replaced by MGB: Ministerstvo Gosudarstvennoj Bezopasnosti.
Re: Clothing worn by NKVD in Gulag?
by MVD actually. In 1946 a more traditional ministry replaced "people's commissariat" Accordingly NKGB was renamed MGB and NKVD->MVD. It was no more than a change of letters.ML59 wrote:NKVD was replaced by MGB: Ministerstvo Gosudarstvennoj Bezopasnosti.

Sorry for misunderstanding. Wasn't it in 1946?
