Aero-sleigh / Snowmobiles in July ?

Greetings,
Just ran across these units in Glanz for the Western Front on 1 July 1943:
    7th Separate Aero-sleigh Battalion
    37th Separate Aero-sleigh Battalion
    38th Separate Aero-sleigh Battalion
    40th Aero-sleigh Battalion
In other sources, these units are designated as Snowmobile Battalions.

Just what were these units doing in July? Obviously not sledding about on the snow.

Withdrawn to the Arkhangelsk Military District during July. There were similar units in other places, more than half a hundred total:

I suppose disbanding specialized units with valuable specialists was considered impractical so they were waiting for the next winter.
