To this day , these orders are still as unclear today as then, the general instructions to Soviet Commanders were to move their Forces LATERALLY across the Front in case of War. During the German Attack this proved disastrous , advancing in column , with exposed flanks open to axis of German attack.
The exact instructions for Soviet Commanders were excessively elaborate, and many historians feel the contents are not worth the paper and ink to reproduce the 3000 pages of drab directives
