Re: Motorized Rifle Division 1940-41
I would just like to point out the
Charles Sharp - 1. Deadly Beginning Soviet Mechanized Corps Tank Divisions and the rest of his 'Red Army Order of Battle' (I have the whole series) are somewhat dated now. There is enough war-time Soviet material available that the series could use a serious update. If you can't read even a little Russian then series is probably one of the best of the lot.
Take a look at 'Soviet Army Order of Battle in WWII June to December 1941' on google books. It is really cheap. If it had better maps it would be brillant.

The establishment orders are best guesses, even today that fog of war still exists.

I was referring to the actual Soviet TOE's are available. The actual personel and equipment strenght of an individual unit are open to question. In recent years some 3,500,000 Soviet wartime documents have been released so it is possible to get a much better idea than was possible before.

Exactly , this interesting topic needs a reference point to dis spell old information that has not been changed one iota in 80 Years.
Other interesting subject matter is that of Truck Conversions using GAZ 4 to mount a 76mm Gun, on back, for fire support Artillery 1936 refereed to as the SU 12 along with the IAG 10 mounting the 76mm Model 1938 Air Defense Gun

Re: Motorized Rifle Division 1940-41
The big question is are there any actual NKO Official printed establishments on Soviet Formations in existence?????
Can any of the establishments shown be proven that they are not just figments of Historical Conjecture, considered relevant for reasons of comparison standards , basing such conclusions on General Military concepts that were thought , being adopted and used , when if fact , such information is inconclusive compared to the Reports and First hand Accounts, from both German and Russian records from actual battle survivors, that recall specific details in the field that conflict with the establishments as shown as Official Versions???
After reading recently released Historical Accounts, not dramatized stories, discrepancies do appear, collating the wide scope of all the avail information , to determine what establishments other than the establishment of numbers was used remains to be explained
