Uniform ID
HI all,
Unfortunately uniforms are not my specialty. How would you describe the rank of this uniform--unteroffizier?
Thanking you,
Dave

Re: Uniform ID
I believe that is a Fahnenjunker/Officer candidate judging by the tresse and collar patches.
Re: Uniform ID
Thanks ExcellionHellstrom,
This is another photo of the same soldier taken at the same time. ? Summer uniform

Re: Uniform ID
Both photos show him as just a plain "UNTEROFFIZIER"...... an officer candidate would have tresse or cording looped around the top of his shoulder straps (not sewn like his NCO tresse). There is nothing about his collar tabs, collar/strap tresse, or breast eagle to indicate officer candidate. The "white" looking tunic seems to be a variation of a "Drill tunic" .... unusual without exposed buttons.... possibly a "Stable jacket variation".

Thanks John. The white uniform stumped me. Both photos were taken in Ukraine in 42

Hi all,
Can someone please confirm the rank: ? Oberfähnrich?
Any thoughts on the cap?
Thank you, David

Re: Uniform ID
I would say it's a Oberleutnant ( Artillerie ? )
He wears a soft visor cap devoid of frame.

Re: Uniform ID
He's wearing a normal Schirmmütze without a cap spring.

Re: Uniform ID
Thanks von thoma, Ian and Dwight.
I'd like your thoughts on the circled officers (rank/ branch) as well as the Sonderführer's badge (circled).
Cheers, David

Re: Uniform ID
The 2 officers ... the one on the left is Heer (too grainy to be certain) but could be either Hauptmann or Oberst, however the cap eagle may be gold ... so he could be a General. The one on the right is Luftwaffe and looking at his collar tabs he is between Major and Oberst. The Sonderfuhrer's badge looks like it's a HJ Proficiency Badge.

Re: Uniform ID
Ok, it's NOT the HJ badge.
