Question about visor cap piping

#1

Post by Fitzwilliam » 06 May 2016, 05:41

I've noticed on some SS visor caps, of the Schirmmütze and crusher variety, that the piping around the cap band and crown will all be of the same width; while in other cases the piping in the crown will be wider than the band piping. Is there any significance to this or was this just the personal preference of someone who may have had one custom made?

There are no regulations on that detail.
It's possible that these variations, are produced by the different manufacturers.

A panzer visor cap made by Erel, with the crown piping more width.
This is the most widespread.
