Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Morning William, the exotic items seem to have a rock-solid provenance back to the officers who picked them up and the date and place etc ..... you can't argue with that. The rest seem to be 'generic' early party uniform items and therefore much more common by comparison.all1knew wrote: Let me ask you, how do you feel about the uniforms on display here:

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

As for 99% of top end SS items and 99.9999999% of anything related to the holocaust or high leaders personal items you would need a chain of direct ownership back to the 8th of May 1945 before you could sleep at nights.

I'm going to omit some names here. A friend of mine was called by a dealer friend of his and asked to bring his camera down to the shop. He had a very interesting person coming in with some fantastic stuff that was going to be put up for sale. My friend showed up and met a Mr. Sydney Leigh, who was a navigator in a B-17 that was shot down over Germany. He was held in Luftstalag III until late in the war, when the POWs were force marched away from the coming Soviets to the area around Munich. They were put in Army Camp VII-A. Mr. Leigh and a buddy managed to escape while outside the camp on a work detail. They made contact with the German underground who hid them until Patton's 3 Army arrived. Then Mr. Leigh and his friend walked down to the Brown House and helped themselves to many of Hitler's personal property, including a shirt like this, trousers (which were named), an EK1, an NSDAP political cap, and other treasures. After the war, Mr. Leigh took this treasure on tour throughout the U.S. Now he was interested in selling the grouping. So my friend did all of the photography work in preparation for the sale. I'm sure my friend still has the photos. But Hitler had many shirts and uniforms. Interesting that the shirt in the exhibit in the WWII Museum was taken from the Brown House. I wonder which guy got there first and left what behind.

I'll look around. Maybe I still have copies of the pictures... and if not, I can email my friend for scans. I remember my friend showing me a photo of Mr. Leigh dressed in Hitler's shirt and wearing the cap, sometime after the war, and then my friend had him dress up again and took a comparison photo. I believe this uniform was made in 1938.

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Do you think this Hitler´s ceremonial belt was the same as for example Albert Bormann (his adjutant) had?
Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Dont think so, Hitler wasnt one to share clothes lol. But it may be very similar, not the exact same belt for sure.

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
You can see from the first of my pictures, that his tunic is of the same design as Goebbels or Göring (him rarely) had.cdubya wrote:Dont think so, Hitler wasnt one to share clothes lol. But it may be very similar, not the exact same belt for sure.

It may be the same. Maybe for special occasions.
Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
I couldn't find those pictures of Hitler's brown shirt uniform so I asked my friend who took the pictures to send a few along. Here they are. The trousers were named and dated 1938 and this uniform was worn by Hitler during the 1938 Nürnberg Rally. He also sent the picture with Mr. Leigh wearing the shirt and cap.

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Here is one of the two pictures of the shirt. One picture is very interesting... involving the collar and tie. I've decided to withhold that photo. We don't want unauthorized copies made. But here is the other photo, as well as the one with Mr. Leigh. By the way, that is one of Hitler's actual WW1 EK1s on the shirt.

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Hello there,
Has there ever been evidence of Hitler wearing a shirt with so many award loops?

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Actually, if you look at a number of high personality tunics, you'll see badge loops all over them for various combinations of badges. This Hitler shirt has loops for his Nazi Party Badge and two others. He was wounded in WW1 so there are loops for that one, and probably one of the various other party badges. Additionally, he might have worn his wound badge in either place on his shirt, thus the multiple loops. This shirt, cap, breeches, and all else that came together for this photo session were without doubt 1,000% original. It was well documented. Mr. Leigh took this collection on the road and exhibited it for many years around the country after the war.

Re: Adolf Hitler's clothes
Hitler had the 1914 EKI, Black Wound and GBP ... thus the 3 loops.
