IS this TUNIC ORIGINAL???

I have a feldwebel’s M40 tunic. To the best of my knowledge, it is original but the buttons on the tunic are not marked. Was it a common thing that buttons were not marked?

don't know, but lack of markings doesn't necessarily mean repro. I have a few US Civil War buttons with no markings, one was dug up and one was confirmed original without a doubt, even thought about 95% of Civil War era buttons had markings on the back

all orginal buttons I have seen are marked, the steel ones are usually marked BJ 42, but ive seen diffrent markings, the alluminum ones have tons of diffrent makeings. Ive seen a few repop buttons that wer realy rough on the back and unmarked, i dunno though, what colo is the thread used to stitch the buttons?

All buttons, including a plastic button on the inside pocket for the wound bandage, are stitched with the same thread. The color of the thread is almost the same as the color of the tunic’s lining - beige, like very light brown. And it is a pretty thick, twisted thread.
