Because he was part of the staff of the Reichsführer-SS the office he was part of would be on his cufftitle ... 'Reichsführung-SS' or similar.

Allgemeine-SS personel had their Standarte number on the right tab, SS-TV had the Totenkopf and their Hundertschaft number and the fledling SS-VT had their Standarte number after the runes with the exception of the Leibstandarte' who just had the runes.

Just for reference it is polite to reply with acknowledgement that you have understood and appreciated input from other members :milwink:

He was actually on the staff of the SS-Oberabschnitt Süd.

Perhaps in the earlier (second) photo he was considered part of the Bodyguard ?
