Correct....and a nice find! Any of the SS shldr. board devices are quite desireable to a collector/historian....alot of "history" represented by an otherwise "insignificant" artifact....looks like a nice original example- and yes, these are reproduced (as are all the others)....

To me it looks cast ? Which is a no-no.

Certianly....if cast....a BIG No No!.....but I'd want "hands on" to be sure....my eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be....!

it looks to me, and I'm not a collector, as if its been stamped out, would that be bad ?

Stamped = Good (more often than not)
Cast = Fake (always)

The inconsistency of the thickness of the edges and the lack of reverese detail are what make me suspect it's a casting.

Please believe me, I would LOVE it to be real for you Peter but .....
