WWII Japanese Helmet and Cover

Postby katona on 26 Jul 2012 17:27

Hello,

I was given this helmet and helmet cover from a family friend and I do not know much about the helmet. From online research I think I figured out that it was a WWII Japanese Navy Type 90 helmet and a Navy Helmet cover. I believe it is all original from the look of materials. Any help on identifying and valuing this would be a huge help. I have tried to search this online but had no luck. I will add more pictures i just have to resize them first. Thank you

Nice original Japanese WW 2 Navy Helmet- type with painted anchor and what appears to be an original Navy Helmet Cover....the cover looks much better conditionwise than the helmet, so have my doubts they came together originally, but possible...

Values are quite subjective.....especially depends on condition of the liner and the cloth ties.....but the helmet & Cover should realistically be $500.00 to 1,200.00......maybe more if the condition is extra nice, depending on the markings, etc.

There are excellent reproduction Navy helmet covers out there....that's the biggest questionmark in my book....

I would put that evaluation quite low if truly original.

Japanese section at gunboards forums is quite helpful.
