About the only thing I can come up with are "D.A.F." members.....wearing the so called "festival" Visor hat with large gold frame oval hat insignia......but would have expected them all to be wearing swas. armbands and all have party pins....which some don't seem to have (can't really tell what the pins or insignia are....)...

There were other early obscure German organizations that had oval hat emblems....or they might be foreign? But that's about all I can come up with....

They could be members of the National Socialist War Victims Support Service.
( Nationalsozialistiches Kriegsopferversorgung - NSKOV ).
Was a purely Nazi Party organisation set up to help and assist in the welfare of victims of the WW I
as well as those members of the Party that had suffered during the early periods fighting with
the Communists.
They wore civilian style suits ( Black Colour) to which were pinned metal badges and medals.

NSKOV wore the same civilian suit uniform as all other vets organizations.....but the wore a totally differant shape hat badge and breast badge...not NSKOV IMO.

Doesn't appear to be the same hat emblem, but who knows?.... there are many obscure organizations from the late 20s thru early 30s that had oval hat emblems and wore the same style dk. blue visors w/either oak leave or Kyffhauserbund/RKB shield bevo hatbands, depending on what organization it was.

Is there a chance that they could have different badges on their hats? I enlarged the picture as much as I could and some of the badges look different. I know that the lighting and shadows can make them appear that the badges are not the same. In the back row, the third man from the left, the badge on his hat looks like it has an eagle at the top of it. In the back row,the fifth from the left, looks like the SA rune.In the front row, second from the left, looks like the DRKB posted above.

Certianly could be a mix of organizations or be when the insignia was "in flux"....but your guess is as good as mine....I can't see enough detail myself....

Could the badges on the hats be a form of this Deutsche AfrikaFeldzug medal? The medal has an eagle at the top and has the same design shape in the middle. I`m not certain on the time frames though. Do you think that the picture was taken before
1940?

The medal is an Italian medal.....would have nothing to do with this photograph.....and the photo is probably 1933 or earlier.....

JohnG. Yeah, you are right about the Italienisch-Deutscher Feldzug medal not having anything to do with this picture. The time frame for the picture(1933?) would be about ten years before the issue of the medal by the Italian government in 1942 to commemerate the actions of the DAK in Africa and for German personnel to have perrmission to wear it. I guess what I should of said was that the badge on one of the hats looked similar to it.
A final comment on the group, they look like fire chiefs.

The SA guy still wears the M29 style cap eagle on his coffee can hat.....so it's pre-1936. The lack of any other pins, armbands, of the usual trappings of National Socialism make me think this is shortly after Hitler's assumption of power....but it could be 1934/35.....I said 1933 only as a "referance" point....

Just my "guesstimate" .....

No...that's a Kyffhauserbund 25 Yr. Membership lapel pin......would not be worn on the hat....
