M43 Field Cap - Fake?

#1

Post by SDMGuy » 06 Sep 2014, 21:46

HI, I was given a M43 Field Cap which I cannot identify as I mainly collect medals. I have no experience with headgear, but the insignia looks fake, the low quality etc. But the cap itself and the stamps inside have me stumped. Can anyone help with this and tell me for sure please.
Help is always greatly appreciated!

Very fakey markings on SDMguy's hat....so, no chance, I'm afraid. As Mark said, for "free" so shouldn't/doesn't matter, really... but still disappointing, I'm sure.

Thanks for both your help! As I suspected... Mark in Cleveland, at least yours has a swastika that isn't of centre and oval shaped :D Now I just need to figure out what to do with the damn thing, ...can't really wear it around town!

Remove the sewn trap with a sewing thread knife, and *redo* the cap with a better repro set. or trap. Then wear it around militaria shows, gun shows, etc like I do
Or sell it as a repro/fake/fantasy/

Has nice weathering,fading,bleeding of colors.

As for the crap markings, these are not all that hard to *erase* just have to use the proper technique and materials.(eraser)
