Hi everyone, just wondered if someone could shed some light and opinions as to the authenticity of this helmet. I know it's not in the best of conditions and it is pitted on the outside but that's the way it came to me. Studs are riveted on the inside and is marked 51 and 790 on the inside rim.
This is not really my field to say the least, more interested in K98's etc. I picked up the helmet along with some other militaria about fifteen years ago at a French flea market. I've read up but I know with the K98's the only experience is hands-on with originals and fakes alike.
Looking for some help and advice please guys, thanks.

German M35 DD Helmet HELP
Re: German M35 DD Helmet HELP
The shell itself is, obviously.... real. Everything else is suspect IMO. The "feldgrun" paint appears post war, over some of the pitting and covering the decals.... decals aren't clear enough (the runes) to accurately judge, but seem to be artificially scratched & aged.... for starters.... but not completely "ruled out". Looks to have had "a few" possible repaints and previous decals... I'd post this on the WAF or helmetforum.... for a wider base of opinions...
Since the are no rivets holding the liner on German helmets... (fold pins or split pins, yes!) I'd want to see the inside.... also before commenting further...

Hi John, very much appreciate the comments and information, I'll post it on the other forums you mentioned to get a wider opinion. Your comments are what I though and suspected myself but I didn't pay much for the shell anyway.
