Help needed. some Insignia found on an old Attic
Help needed. some Insignia found on an old Attic
Hi Community,
last week the mother of old family friends passed away (97 years). While emptying out the house we stumpled across some boxes on the attic. Besides Unifroms and stuff i found a small silver box containing Insignia. But to be honest i dont have a clue what all of the insignia is. Can you help identifying all of em?
The next thing is, a "friend" offer me 250 € (300-350$) for all of this insignia. Is this a realistic prize?
Help would be much appreciated.

Third badge, it's BRD West german sport badge 1st grade in gold.
You have found good things, you must appreciate the finding.

oh dont get me wrong. my intention is not selling it - i was just curious if he tries to rip me off if i would sell or not - as i said a "friend" offered this prize.
and since these insignia is of a befriended family i was curious about what you have to do to receive this insignia - they dont know much about what their family did in ww2
and thanks for the info!

Yes, he's trying to rip you off. I would say they are worth €500 or there-abouts.SirSlick wrote: The next thing is, a "friend" offer me 250 € (300-350$) for all of this insignia. Is this a realistic prize?

It's the Wehrmacht 4 year Service Medal, the Iron Cross II looks to be a Wachtler & Lange ... is there a small '100' on the ring ?SirSlick wrote:thanks.

I wouldn't agree your "friend" is trying to rip you off.....I wouldn't pay much over $300./350. to buy this lot for resale, so it's a fair "wholesale" offer..... nothing "out of the ordinary" though obviously a very nice "family" lot. Let's see the uniform and other stuff!....Ian Hulley wrote:Yes, he's trying to rip you off. Re: Help needed. some Insignia found on an old Attic
Hi John, doing the sums (math if you prefer ) collector to collector prices ...
Nice Ost Medal £20
EKII & 4 yr Medal on a bar £100
DSG badge ??
Nice Mothers Cross in Gold £30
4 yr Spange £10
EKII £50
EKI £150 at least
Infantry Assault £75 each so £150
Wound Badges £20 each so £60
It all adds up, and I'm trying to be on the low side there ...
Cheers, Ian.

Re: Help needed. some Insignia found on an old Attic
No disagreeing with your "values".... just that I still would say it was a reasonable enough "offer"....Nobody pays "full retail" for most of these.... I certainly wouldn't.... (but would buy the lot "in a minute" for resale at the "lower estimates (300/400 range)....
Cheers,
John G.
