Small audi 2 cycle engine?
Small audi 2 cycle engine?
Howdy. I have a small 2 cycle gas engine made by Audi. I have seen only one similar pic at a reenactment camp of Nazi radio equipment. The generator is missing. It has a kickstart lever. Anybody have a clue? Billious

Unrelated to your search but your use of the word 'Nazi' will alienate you from serious collectors and many of the resident experts ... the phrase refers to the Party itself (National Socialist German Workers Party or NSDAP) and is usually used by those ignorant of the IIIrd Reich, the German Wehrmacht in particular and the press who use it as a sensationalist headline-grabber.
It also doesn't help that you've asked a question about field equipment in the 'Axis Uniforms, Headgear & Insignia' forum.

Re: Small audi 2 cycle engine?
Hello,
I'm absolutely no motor expert but what makes you think it's an Audi engine? Does it say so on the engine or is there just the Audi logo with the four interconnected rings? This logo was used previously already in the late 1950s/early 1960s by motorcycle/car manufacturer DKW before their rebranding as Audi.
If so, it could be the engine of a DKW RT 125 W motorcycle or something like that. The 'W' stands for West Germany to discern them from the DKW 125 Z that was produced in Zwickau (East Germany). I've looked around a bit with GooglePictures and at first this motor seems to have come with the DKW logo, later with one for AutoUnion and finally with an Audi logo.

Hope this gives you at least a hint in which direction to dig further.
Best regards
