Seems to be a genuine old watch case with authentic marks.
But, where is the machinery ?

Any maker's marks would be nice. One of the "cuts" is at an angle(bad). The cuts make me think its a watch, but I wonder if it is a compass.

Testing with a magnet might eliminate the compass idea.
