German Helmet ID Help Please

#1

Post by ipr73 » 18 Dec 2015, 22:09

Hello all,

I've been asked by a friend to try and find out more information about this helmet. I found some info on this website

http://ww2germanhelmets.com/Information ... s.com.html

With my zero knowledge I'm guessing from that website that this is either a M1935, M1940 or M1942?

Markings: 54 Size? 1514 Serial No?

There is some writing in blue which i presume was added later. I cannot read this.

I can barely make out the insignia on the side. Can anyone help?

Apologies for the amateur photos.

Brilliant forum, thanks.

EDIT: Also found EF62 inscribed inside.

Rolled rim but pressed vent hole = M40 shell

Rolled rim with riveted vent hole = M35
non-rolled rim with pressed vent hole = M42

Looks like it once had a Luft eagle decal.
