Luftwaffe Afrikakorps cuff title Help needed

I'm a bit stumped this cuff title--is it unofficial?

It was "semi-official" Luftwaffe version of the Afrikakorps Cuff title... meant for wear "in country" or while on leave but only while on active service there... would be removed if transferred somewhere else. Would have eventually rec'd the "Afrika" Campaign Award cuff title if he qualified. Notice he's wearing the German/Italian Afrika Campaign ribbon also.
