WWII Japanese helmet-Is it original?

#1

Post by Sterling MacCorry » 29 Sep 2016, 19:01

I picked this up on ebay. It was sold as a WWII Japanese army helmet. I has a nice patina and marking on the inside rim in Japanese. My main concern is that there are no ventilation holes drilled in the top (I thought that the type 90's had them). It costs me $130, plus $20 shipping, so if its fake or post war/civilian helmet, I won't get too wrapped around the axle over it. Thanks in advance!

Civilian model, wartime but "Star" appears added. You could buy one with a liner & ties for what you paid for this shell. Has been repainted also on the outside. Live and learn. A "nice" Civil Defense Japanese helmet is certainly worthy of collecting, and some are excellent buys if you bide your time alittle.
Good hunting.
