Help with name inside German helmet

#1

Post by deangreen » 01 Oct 2016, 23:21

I have a very nice vet bring-back German Helmet with a German name written inside. Can anyone help in deciphering the old German script? I don't think the Germans normally wrote their names in the liner with ink. I figure the vet asked the owner of the Helmet to write his name.

You can´t read the name and though you claim it´s a German name? Must be a German name because it´s in a German helmet, huh?

Good point, History. The letters look like the old German style. I tried to compare with a chart of these letters and got something like "Fan Gake", but not sure.

Dean, maybe you can link this thread on a better place, IMHO. It´s the "Translation help: Breaking the Sound Barrier" subforum.
Hope that "nichte" can have a look on it there.
