Strange swastica flag in TV documentary

#1

Post by Arto O » 09 Jan 2017, 02:41

Hi,
I was just looking a documentary called "Apocalypsis now" about WWII in National Geographic channel. Shortly they tell about short English/French occupacion of Narvik after German invasion to Norway in 1940. For seconds appear French? soldiers showing a swastica flag. The flag had vertical colours red/white/red and on white there was a big long armed swastica. No circle nothing else. What kind of flag was that?
Thanks
Arto

Thanks a lot Loic for quick answer. Thats the flag. Even the colours would be uncorrect, It seems not be any offcial flag. So what then.

No ideas?
Maybe the boys made the flag themselves to show that they have captured something.

As this picture coming from the French Army Geographical Service Cinematographic Section's movie taken around Narvik landing and battle
the French soldiers have captured more than a flag there

I doubt that this is a flag as such, but to me it looks like a Ground Marking Panel for recognition of German troops/position for friendly Aircraft.

Thanks Loic and ROLAND1369,
I think you got right, it is just a flag to identify german positions.
with best regards
Arto
