...I think You all enjoy these very strange pictures. This is estonian unit which was commanded by estonian volunteer Ritterkreuz mit Eichenlaub träger Alfons Rebane :)
Look the combination of SS and Wehrmacht insignas and the picture where SS soldier is wearing Wehrmacht helmet.

Very interesting.

I thought the fingers were held the other way around when taking the oath?

So did i.............
All the other photo's i have seen which picture troops taking the oath of allegiance have their palms outwards.

And should'nt their right hands be resting on a flag or sword?

Steve.

Doesn't that "sign" (when they take the oath on these pictures) mean "fuck off"?

...So maybe it means "f*ck off! Oh, and your stupid brother, too!!!"

But seriously, when taking an oath in the German fashion, you do indeed hold the hand the other way around, with the palm to the outside. Maybe the gesture these volunteers are using is specific to their regional religious and/or military customs?

Is it normal for all the soldiers to have differnet field coats? ie differnet numbers of buttons.

i know that...but battallion "Narwa" had SS runes...and not all soldiers in 20th SS division wore E with sword...a lot of sodliers had SS runes attached to collar (as you can see clearly on the pictures)
