Austro-Hungarians---must be members of the Austrian artillery units sent there in late 1915.

Hi Peter H,
What do you know about this footage? I have been researching this film and have acquired a 16 min better quality and longer version of this youtube video from the Turkish General Staff. It is called "Canakkale Gecilmez" (Impregnable Fortress) but I don't know much more about it. Could you elaborate on your posts please, for example, how do you know that there is a Bulgarian officer depicted and who is he? And in general who, what and how did you identify people and places in this footage? Do you know who shot it?
Thank you.

I see in this footage Austria-Hungarian Artillery soldiers riding camels, trucks, cooking for Turks and a dentist healing a Turk. In the middle of November and begining of December 1915 non-Turkish support units arrived at Gallipoli.
( K.u.K. 24 cm. Motormörser-Batterie No. 9) and (15 cm Howitzer Battery No. 36)

No 9 was given to the order of Anafartalar (Suvla) Group. , and no 36 was given to Soğanlıdere near seddülbahir . Both coused great trouble.

This is interesting Tosun Saral. I wonder whether you or anyone else could verify some of my thoughts about what is in the film and who might have shot it...
This appears to be Sedd el-Bahr which is interesting because this gate was entirely destroyed which would indicate that the film was shot during the Gallipoli campaign

Is this a Krupps gun battery position on the ramparts of the ancient fortress Çimenlik (named ‘Fort 20’ by the British during the naval offensive of Feb-March 1915)? What is particularly interesting is that it seems undamaged – it was hit by a British shell that collapsed the roof during the assault and has remained ruined ever since.

In my previous post, I was asking about the Bulgarian officer because some of the sources suggest that this film could have been shot by a Bulgarian officer, any suggestions who it might have been? Other suspects are a German photographer and this is one of my guesses could it be Fuat Uzkinay, the first Turkish filmmaker, did he serve at Gallipoli though?

This appears to be Eceabat, I wonder whther this building still exists? If I'm correct I think Ataturk had his HQ nearby.

About the identity of the dentist I don't know where he could be from but maybe the man walking in front might give some clues.

Dear Miclos, I am sure the footage is shot by Austrian-Hungarians. The time is beginning of November- middle of December 1915. That is the axact time that KuK arrived to Gallipoli. It is very hard to identify the Turkish officers. If you attach your pics to the following group you may get some answers. Askeri tarih Grubu The Military History Group have many experts about Gallipoli. They also speak English.
