Tosun, my friend

Now you have got me checking.

Erickson shows the commander of the 3rd Div during the Gallipoli fighting as the German Colonel Nicolai April 1915 to at lest Aug 1915

When did Tor (LtCol Edip Servet Bey (Tör) take command of the 3rd Div?

LtCol Nurettin Bey (Özsu) was a the commander of the 39th Infantry Regt (3rd Div) during the Gallipoli battles, So he took command (3rd Div) in March 1917 untill disbanding in March 1918, it that correct?

Just to add;

Who was LtCol Sitki Bey (Üke)

I show he commanded the 3rd Div at some time (do we know the dates he commanded if so?) but also his last command was the 5th Div (but no dates when he commanded)?

5th Div (known commanders)

Col Hasan Basri Bey - ? to 8-15?
LtCol Wilmer (G) 8-15 to 10-15
Col Küçük Refet Bey 10-15 - ?
Col Ali Fuat (Cebesoy) - ?
LtCol Sitki Bey (Üke) - ?

Many thanks again for your hard work.

Cheers

As Lt Col Süleyman İlhami was KIA in Sept. 1 1916 Staff Lt. Col Sıtkı(Üke) commander of 147th Inf R. was made C of 24th Div till Sept 25th 1916. After that date he was made C of 3rd. Inf. Div. till Jan 12rd 1917. He was made commander of 5th Div. on Jan 12nd 1917. After that date Staff Lt Col Edip Bey took the command of 3rd Inf. Div. (Görgülü gives on page 125 name of the commander as "Edip"
The book "Birinci Dünya Harbinde Türk Harbi Volume IV, 1st Part p.515 and 566 writes the name of commander of 3rd Inf Div at Gazze as "Edip". not as Edip Servet or Edip Servet (Tör) Kress also gives his name as Edip in his famous book. He wrote "Commander of 3rd Div Col Edip Bey was a lovable, sympathetic and entellectual Young Turc (He was the establisher of the Young Turc Organization) But unfortunatelly he was not a soldier. He was a sensitive and had no strong nerves ready for hard duties"
At the end I come to solution that Edip is Tör. After armistrace he became a member of sacred organination in İstanbul who smugled men and material to Kemal Pasha's National Forces. in 1921 he was made military atteche to Rome. After the peace he sereved as a MP till his deatth. He was a follower of Atatürk and a free and accepted mason.

Tosun, My friend.

Thank you once more I lean more each question I ask, and you kindly answer me.

I have one problem with the 24th Div commanders you gave?

"As Lt Col Süleyman İlhami was KIA in Sept. 1 1916 Staff Lt. Col Sıtkı(Üke) commander of 147th Inf R. was made C of 24th Div till Sept 25th 1916"

LtCol Süleyman Ilhami Bey was commander 12th Div in the Caucasus when he was killed?

He use to be CofS 12th Div untill replacing the German Colonel Hovik (Havik) (Albert Heuck) after Gallipoli.

I show LtCol Mürsel Bey replaced Lt Col Süleyman İlhami in the 12th Div?

LtCol Sitki Bey (Üke) 147th Regt was with the 47th Div in Symrna (coastal defence).

Known 24th Div Commanders (Thrace 1915 to Syria/Palestine 1916)

Col Ali Remzi Bey -
Col Willmer (G) -
Col Böhme (G) -
LtCol Lütfü Bey

How do Lt Col Süleyman İlhami and LtCol Sitki Bey (Üke) get to the 24th Div?

Thank you

During 2nd Suvla battle Süleyman İlhami was CoS of 12nd Div. Selahaddin Adil was commanding the division. Selahaddin Adil was appointed to 13th Div. on sep 12 1915. German Hovik was made commander of 12th. A new CoS was replaced : Staff Capt. Şamlı Cemil Bey (Cemil of Damascus). I dont know whathappened to Süleyman İlhami after his replacement.

On Jan 16th 1916 the 12nd was transferred to Caucasus front with other divs. At Caucasus I see Sülyman İlhami bey as commander of 12nd.
