Mates,

He said try this?

"Hi Steve,

Many thanks!

It's odd - I just tried the link, and it works perfect. Anyway - I suggest to do a google-search:

MINISTRY OF INFORMATION FIRST WORLD WAR OFFICIAL COLLECTION Q12864

That should lead directly there,

Again - thank you!"

So try that to see the gun?

I thought it maybe so type of Skoda possibly as the 15/24 cm Heavy Howitzer Skoda Pilzen 1933 model

Looks like the same gun?

Did they make the same type during the war?

Cheers

S.B

Hello all,

I am currently reorganizing photos of military museums that I have visited or have photos taken for me. When I was going through the photos of the Military Museum, Istanbul(taken by a friend on a business trip using my camera in Oct. 2010) I made a stunning (re)discovery.

There are two 18pdr in the photos and I have just noticed that one of them have a new, totally different carriage. It immediately reminded me of the converted 18pdr posted by Nuyt in page 19 of this thread(diret link: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... &start=270 ). After comparing the photos I think the carriages of the two guns are essentially the same. But the gun in Nuyt's photo has its breechblock replaced with a sliding one, while the gun in my photo still retains its original breechblock(I think).

Please see the photos. Hope this will give you some more food for thought.

Looks like the forum software did something bizarre to the link - http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/205248117

I think the gun is a 15cm sFH 13 lang with the gun shield removed.

Mate,

Thanks yes that's right. I didn't notice the Gun shield was gone, not something you see on most artillery guns, which confused me.

I was looking for any guns that didn't have gun shields, when I should have been thinking outside the box.

That's again nice pick up.

Mate,

They look like 105mm M 1913 How's.

I had thought they maybe Krupp 120mm How but 15cm How looks better.

Calibre looks smaller than 12cm - unless 1920s Turkish soldiers had very large heads.

The guns look like 75mm Krupp M03 export guns (curved top on the gun shield, acorn shaped cover on the end of the receiver).
Most of these guns were supplied as "fussartillerie" without axle tree seats but the 1909 order and possibly the 1911 order did have axle tree seats.

Charlie

Mustafa Kemal the civilian on the right of the man with white hat.
In this photo of Mustafa Kemal, he appears to be looking at a French 70mm Saint Chamond Mountain Howitzer:

Mates,

In line with discussion of the German 60th Arty Bn;

shown March 1917 Allied reports 60th FAR (4x 150mm How & 4x 100mm How att 16th Div at 1st Gaza)

60th FA Bn

Commander: Apfel. The others are Schmude - Petri - Naumann - Hartung

1 Bty (2 guns) - 10,5 cm guns
2 Bty (4 guns) - 15 cm howitzers
3 Bty (2 guns) - 21 cm howitzers ("Mörsers")
4 Bty (2 guns) - 21 cm howitzers ("Mörsers")

I have seen no photos of the 21cm How in Palestine, while I have seen many of their use in France, have you any on record?

Do you have any records of their use in Palestine?

Cheers

Hi Sturm78,

I assume this was only a `test-question´ from an `old artillery expert´.

7,7 cm Feldkanone 96 n. A
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/7,7_cm_Feldkanone_96_n._A.

Cheers Holger

An 75mm Krupp M1903 gun maybe but I am not sure... :?
