Hello,

1.) Where does the story of Major-Gen. Wm.Thomson's British Military Mission to Baku come into this? Weren't the British in control -- briefly -- of Baku's oil production after the 1918 campaign before being run off by the Russians?

2.) Was there not an oil pipeline to Batumi (Batoum) at this time as well?

A very good article "Geopolitical Rivalry in the Caucasus" Vol 1(1) 2006.page 169
Long but it covers Major-Gen. Wm.Thomson's British Military Mission to Baku history with lots of details

Go to

http://alh-research.tripod.com/Light_Ho ... id=1113457

Scroll down to the map which is in small and large size.

Unfortunately there is no map available with troop dispositions here.

Cheers

Bill

Another map from Purnell's history of the First World War,1970,page 2768.

Was the Turkish 10th Division involved in the attack as British Intelligence reported at the time(a total estimated Turkish force of 14,000 men and 500 horse)?

The following maps are from Birinci Dünya Harbinde Türk Harbi Kalfas Cephesi 3ncü ordu harekâti cilt II (First World War Turkish War, Caucasus Front, Operations of the 3th Army). These maps show the Ottoman units between 5 Aug and 15 Sep 1918.
