But in this photo not the Hungarian, but the Egyptian Ismail pasha, commander of the Egyptian division (April 1855, Crimea).
Real “dear old” Kmety was at Kars (as commander of irregular cavalry) from the autumn of 1854 till the surrender of fortress in November 1855. For example, in February and March 1855 he certainly was at Kars (exactly, at advanced posts).

I thank you Tosun Saral for your interesting post about Iskender Bey Fritsch. I am a family history researcher living in Australia and have been hunting for information to understand something about the history at the time. You have really enlightened me with your profiles of Hungarians in the Ottoman service.
I am in touch with an English descendant of Iskender Bey Fritsch whose younger daughter Ann Amalia Fritsch married an English diplomat Arthur David Alban. They lived in Egypt and England. Iskender Bery Fritsch's older daughter Angele Fritsch married a French-English aristocrat Valery Theobald Guillaume De Vismes and lived in Paris. My contact is Iskender Bey Fritsch's great great grand daughter.
