After the agreement between Izzet Pasha and Imām Yahyā on 13. May 1911, the Ottoman Army
trained under the leadership of the Turkish Commander Bashmudír / Miralay (Colonel) Hilmi
Pasha
the Yemeni police units. The photo shows a police unit of one of the four `Al-Humaidia´
(`Zaptiyeh´) Gendarmerie Battalions in Manãkhah. Maybe the photo shows Hilmi Pasha?

Original signature under the photo:

The opening ceremony of the fourth Humaidia fortress which belong to the Dept of the Turkish officers
which was constructed by an order of sultan Abdulahameed Khan II 1301 and it was finished by the
othmatic wali the marshal Ahmed Faidy Basha 1315 the 7th army´s leader appear in the photo, the
building consists of two made of stones and located in the north of the fortress of the armies location.

With the size and the same type of construction as on the second photo, it could be the barracks in Sanaa.

- As I told above İsmet (İnönü) signed the agreement after Ahmet İzzet Pasha left for home.
- Bashmudir (Başmüdür) is Generaldirector.
- Miralay (Colonel) Hilmi Pasha is wrong: Miralay Hilmi Bey (he might be later a pasha. Miralay Hilmi Bey (Pasha)
- Manãkhah : we call the ciry Menahe
- The picture is shot before 1900 during the rign of Sultan Andülhamid II. We understand it from the sytl of the uniform of the officer standing in rthe middle. That kind of uniform ws used in Ottopman Empire during the years 1880-1900.

İmam Yahya of Yemen

Order to Tatar Ahmet Feyzi Pasha from Supreme Court of Ottoman Empire which wants Imam Yahya to be arrested within 20 days. Ahmet Feyzi Pasha was very upset as he received this telegram. he imediately responded " This imam Yahya is not the imam of a mosque in İstanbul. He is the leader of a nation. I can not catch him from his ear and transport under arrest to Istanbul."
