What type of rifle is this? The bayonet is on the right side. The picture is from 1938.
Thanks.

Hello dfdenizyaran,

Yes indeed, at the magazin it looks like a Gewehr Modell 1888.

But at the mouth-top the Gewehr Modell 1888 have had a bigger outer caliber.

For this reason I think your photo shows a Turkish Mauser Modell 1890.

the rifle is absolutly a gewehr 88 that uses a 8x57 j (7,9x57 infanterie) ammo. the magazine edge before the triger guard of the 1890 s (7,65x53 mm) is completly different . the gew 88 uses 8x57j and gew 98 and kar 98 (standart mausers and kirikkales) use 8x57 js (7,9x57 infanterie spitz) . the only difference is , the projectile of 88 is ,318 inches (8,0772 mm) , and modern 98 uses a ,323 inches (8,2042 mm) projectile. unfortunately the late 8x57js ammo with sharp tip which are used in 88 s causes an abnormal pressure in the rifles barrel . and unexpected accidents occured during the use of 88 s with new kirikkale ammo. after 1938, all mauser rifles(7,65mm,9,5mm 7,9x57 j) were standartized and converted to new 8x57js (7,9x57 is)in askeri fabrikalar umum müdürlüğü . the j is the miss-reading of letter i by americans . but they still insist to say and write j instead of i which is at the end of caliber 8x57 .

This picture is from 1960. What a long life for a rifle.
