Tosun and Mates,

I show this officer in these formations;

commander 53rd Regt (18th Div) 1915

commander 9th Regt (5th Caucasus Div) 1918

Commander 1st Azerbaijan Div late 1918

I have a note to say his family name was "Toydemir "

Are all these men the same and is his family name post war right for all these men?

Do we have any other details on Cemil Cahit?

Cheers

S.B

commander 53rd Regt (18th Div/ 11st AC) Dec. 22 1914- Jan 18th 1915 Staff Maj. Cemil Cahit Bey (Colonel General Toydemir) during Sarikamış Battle.

During battles around river Aras C of IIst AC, 18th Div. 5th Regt

Görgülü says onpage 116 taht staff maj. Cemil Cahit Bey (Toydemir9 commanded the 33rd Div.for a short time during March-June 1916. He also writes that Maj. Cemil Cahit was made commander of front reserve units consisted of 2nd Inf. Regt and an Infantry Battalion.

Later in Herst of 1918 at the expedition arond Casbian see Lt Col. C. Cahit Bey commanded 9th Caucasus Regiment /5th Caucasus Div.
Colonel General Cemil Cahit Toydemir was pro German during WW2. For that reason he and some colleges like Colonel General Ali Fuat Erden ( old CoS of 4th Army WW1) Hüseyin Hüsnü Emir Erkilet (author of Yildirim/ Lightning) he was taken to germany for an official visit. He inspected the east front and other fronts. germans showed him all best sides. Even Hitler himself invited them for a talk. German propaganda and Gastfreundlichkeit was so extreme that all hoped Turkey enters war beside Germans. But he wrote in his report that germans will lost the war and no need to join the germans again. Ismet İnönü the Turkish President knew the germans very well. So Turkey stayed neutral till end of the war.

The Germans are all looking very sad and disappointed. The Germans couldnt convince the Turks to ally with them unlike the WW1 because both Turkish Officers knew them very well.

Poor Hitler seems very surprised to a question about warfare of Ali Fuad Erden Pasha the old veteran of many wars.
