134th Infantry Regt

Mates,

I was after any details on the formation of this Regt?

All reported show no formation for this Regt other then showing up in the 7th Div around the end of Dec 1917 when it arrived in Palestine?

Others show the 4th Battalion of this Regt in Medina early 1918?

Tosun gave us a nice photo of it being given a standard before WWI
see photo
Standart ceremony of 134th Infantry Regiment before WW1

So when was this Regt formed and what Division was it in before 1917?

Any ideas

Mates,

As stated the 134th Regt is shown replacing the 19th Regt in the 7th Div around Dec 1917.

And the 54th Div is also shown with the 19th replacing the 166th Regt at the same time with it going to the 14th Div?

Although the 14th Div shows no changes at that time and its order of battle gives us Dec 1917- 3rd Regt 37th Regt 43rd Regt but no 166th Regt?

The 166th Regt is show being given to the 52nd Div but that Div was in Mesopotamia?

Reports place the 166th Regt in fighting around Es Salt in May 1918 near Amman?

So such is the confusion with Turkish units in their order of battles, what the truth is who knows?

Mates,

Sorry their was some confusion between the 166th Regt and 66th Regt.

166th Regt after being replaced went to the 14th Div in Mesopotamia and destroyed with 14th Div in action at 2nd Ramadiye (Ramadi) 21/24-9-17

The 66th Regt was with the 48th Div in fighting around Es Salt in May 1918 near Amman.

The 134th Regt is shown 41st Div to 7th Div July 1917 att 4Bn to 58th Div Oct 1917 rtn 7th Div Dec 1917

And the 134th Regt disappeared between Jan to Sept 1918, possibly reformed as 19th Regt (7th Div) around Feb 1918.

shown Feb 1918 Allied reports 7th Div (2250 men 72xMGs 130 cav) 134th Regt (600 men 14xMGs) disappears possibly reformed as 19th Regt (54th Div) on disbanded 54th Div?

As the orbat for the 7th Div Sept 1918 is;

shown Sept 1918 Allied reports (66 MG's) 19th Regt (700 men) 20th Regt (440 men) 21st Regt (580 men) attack/storm Co (70 men) Div Cav (150 Cav) + 2Bn/146th Regt (German) (450 men 29 MG's)

That's the latest I can find.

If you disagree please let us all know.

Cheers

S.B
