Lutfi or Lütfü Bey

Mates,

An interesting description of LtCol Lutfi Bey came from a British Intell report dated Sept 1918.

Lutfi Bey it said was the 40 year old son of Marshall Husni Pasa, a gentleman, fearless and cool.

They say he was commanding a force near Amman of the 24th Division and 3rd Cavalry Division.

This had me looking as to who he was but found only these men in the known records?

Emin Lutfi 131st Regt Maj
Lutfi Efendi Osmancik Taburu/Battalion Capt officers of Fedai Osmancik Taburu
Lutfu Bey CofS 16th Div 10-17 LtCol
Lutfullah Bey 87th Regt Maj KIA 30-12-14 KIA 30-12-14 at Sarikamis Regt destroyed in Çerkezköy at Sarik
Omar Lutfi 1st Composite (Lütfü) Müretteb or Mürattep) Div Maj to LtCol shown June 1918 British reports document signed by him
Omer Lutfi staff 9th Corps 1914 LtCol

Possibly Omar Lutfi 1st Comp Div is him, as most reports show this 1st Composite (Lütfü) Müretteb or Mürattep) Division?

Any ideas on who he maybe?

Cheers

in arabic latters there is no " i" or " ü" .there is " u" Arabs write and read Lutfu. Türks write and read Lütfi or Lütfü. Lutfi, Lütfi or Lütfü ,s the same name. Some 100 yeras ago we used to write Lütfi. Now we say Lütfü.

Actually we do read Lutfu as Lutfi, the problem is in transliteration because the Arabic alphabet used in writing Turkish does not have the same sounds as the Arabic alphabet used in Arabic language.

As an example in Arabic we still say Inkishari rather than Yeniçeri because we read the the Turkish language word as if it was written in Arabic.

Mates,

Thanks, do we know if the description is correct, was LtCol Lutfi Bey the son of a Field Marshall named Husni Pasa?

Also is it posible these are the same man?

Omer Lutfi staff 9th Corps 1914 LtCol
Omer Lufu or Lutfi CofS 19th Div 10-16 Maj
Lutfu Bey CofS 16th Div 10-17 LtCol
Omar Lutfi 1st Composite (Lütfü) Müretteb or Mürattep) Div Maj to LtCol

Tosun,

I notice an account about Mustafa Kemal and his taking command 19th Div in early 1915.

It mentions one of first jobs was to get rid of his CofS named Lutfi, with a more talented officer named Izzeddin.

Is he (Lutfi) one of the officers I show above?

Does any books on Kemal mention this?

Known Chief of Staff 19th Div

Maj Lutfi 1-15 to 2-15
Maj Izettin Bey (Calislar) 3-15 (22 March 1915)
Maj Mehmet Nâzim Bey dates ?
Maj Omer Lufu or Lutfi 8-16

Cheers

This is wrong.
W have a Maj.Lütfi/Lütfü Bey was CoS of 19th Div., XvTh AC at Galizia during July 1916-Aug 1917.As 19th was formed again for Gallipoli Staff Capt. Izzettin was made CoS of the div. not Lütfi, ((Note: 19th was demolished in Dec. 24th 1912 during Balkan War)

On March 14th 1915 Mustafa Kemal snd a telegram to İzzettin Çalışlar ordering him to be his CoS. On the same day İzzettin Bey sails to Maydos on the Peninsula. He arrives on March 20th to town of Gallipoli. On March 21st he bounds to 19th Div. and took the command of CoS of the div. on March 22nd 1915.
