Musikzug der SA-Standarte 1
Re:
As I mentioned before, prior to joining the newly-formed Leibstandarte-SS "Adolf Hitler" band, the (in)famous bandmaster Hermann Müller-John conducted the band of SA-Standarte 1 (named after the killed Sturm 33 commander, Hans Maikowski). The band, led by Müller-John, recorded four tracks for the "Clangor-Schallplatten" Company, in 1933. Note that thanks to what appear to be imprecise captions on the record labels (the band was credited as "Standarten-Kapelle 1") and the fact that Müller-John is usually tied only to the band that made him (in)famous, many record collectors mistake the band of SA-Standarte 1 for the Leibstandarte band (see for example the "Elitesoldaten" CD). However, the record captions were correct, since the unit was indeed called "Standarte 1" at the time, without the "SA" prefix ("Standarten-Kapelle 1" was just a different way of spelling "Kapelle der Standarte 1").

Re:
(You're welcome.) Well according to Andreas Schulz, he was given the rank of SS-Sturmhauptführer when he joined the SS (the rank was later renamed SS-Hauptsturmführer). So - either he held the same rank or one of the lower ones: SA-Obersturmführer or SA-Sturmführer.
Cheers,
Ivan
