Question 72

#301

Post by Auceps » 17 Jan 2016, 10:15

Okay, my question is simple: Hans Felix Husadel as Luftwaffenmusikinspizient had an assistant, who also made several recordings later. What was his name?

Since there is no answer, I'll give it (the answer actually correlates to the previous question): it was Hans Holländer.

Question 73

#304

Post by Alexander B. » 25 Apr 2016, 08:42

May I have a go with the next question?

Which march released in 1935 by Grammophon has the sound effect of a Cuckoo clock played a small number of times midway through the song? The Composer of the song is someone we all know...also a known smoker in his day.

It should be a pretty easy one, so I've intentionally left it vague, if nobody can get it I'll drop another hint.

All the best
Alex

"Halloh, ich bin ein Jägersmann" (but also "Zicke-zacke" from the same record)

Cheers,
Ivan

(note: the sound is referring to the cuckoo as a live bird, not a clock)

Hello Ivan,

Almost 100% correct, but I dont think the noise I'm thinking of is in "Zicke-zacke", it sounds just as the clock does, two notes played on what I can only imagine is some kind of whistle. Maybe outside of English the noise is known by a different name.
"Halloh-*cuckoo*-ich bin-*cuckoo*- ein Jägersmann".

Greetings
Alex

Again, the cuckoo is a bird, not a clock. The cuckoo clock was named after the bird, it has a toy-bird in it which imitates the sound of the real bird. A Jägersmann (huntsman) hunts in a forest, where birds live, he does not hunt in a clock store  They imitated several birds on that Grammophon record, on both sides, among which was also the cuckoo bird (also on both sides). It is "Hello (sound of a bird), I am (sound of a bird) a huntsman" - and not "Hello (sound of a wall clock), I am (sound of a wall clock) a huntsman".

Ivan

Fair enoug, Ivan, although maybe Mr. Niel hunted the clock store a few times for some nice clocks?

In all seriousness I never considered that they might be actually trying to imitate the bird, obvious thought now, but the specific sound played is associated here almost exclusively with the clocks , the living bird will be described as making a different noise, the birds themselves aren't so common to see in most of the US, I'm not sure I've ever even heard one before in real life.

How about a master level questions for me?
Thanks
Alex

These both songs on one record, obviously a liked combination. I have the Kristall 3530, performer here is Gerhard Hoffmann mit seinem Tanz-Orchester - Gesang: Kurt Mühlhardt und Quartett.

I'm really sorry to hear that. I live in an urban environment, but there are (and always have been) birds everywhere. Life is always more natural and thus nicer with other living beings around.

New (easy) question: this is one of Schellenbäume of which unit?

Yes, of course  It has the inscription in Spanish "All for the fatherland" [Todo por la patria], and also the LC [Legion Condor] initials in the center. The legion used other motifs as well: Franco Regime's coat of arms and the Luftwaffe flag (see http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=207515).

Question 75

Post by Auceps » 03 May 2016, 20:00

Thank you for the information, Ivan!

My question is a bit complicated now: What was the last march Adolf Berdien conducted during his military service? Not composed, but conducted.

 [bravo for me]

Mr. A. keeps forgetting to confirm that the answer is correct, but since it obviously is (since he gave away the answer himself in another thread), I'll post the next question without further waiting:

Which march was played here as "Parademarsch der Spielleute"? [the first tune, played by fifes & drums]
