[Two topics dealing with the same conductor have been merged. Ivan Ž.]

Good morning from Berlin,

I search infos about SS-Ostuf. (1935) Max Pausch. He was leader of the music platoon III./Germania. His fate is still unknown. Can anyone help me?

Thanks a lot.

Balsi

Wasn't Pausch one of the executed at Landsberg in 1948?

What I've is the following.

I also have his DoB as 22-4-1894.
Served with Waffen-SS, so that should be correct since Iltis tells us that the Führerliste says he served with SS-Infanterie-Regiment 'Nordland'.
In 1944/1944 he was Schutzhaftlagerführer at Gusen II.
Died(hanged)on 12-11-1948 in Landsberg-prison.

Greetings,
Mike

Hey Balsi,

No thanks at all, you're welcome. Looks like an interesting book, hope you'll find it.
I'll write down the name from this book as well.

And when there's more on Pausch in there, hope you're willing to share it....

Greetings,

Hi Mike...

here some more onfos of Pausch:

born in Thuringia; profession Kapellmeister, served in WW1
1935-1939 - SS-Rgt. "Germania" as musician
1940-1941 - SS-Rgt. "Nordland"
1941-1943 - SS-Ers.Btl. 5 "Wiking"
11.1944-12.1944 - Musician in Berlin

1944 became deaf after bomb explosion on left ear
12.1944-05.1945 - attendant of the guard in Gusen I and II. There he had to prevent sabotage
at War end - KG Oberdonau
08.05.1945 - american POW at Kamen

as inthe last days in Gusen broke out typhus. The detainees where sent by train to Linz for delousing. Pausch should accompany this train. He told to cmdt. Ziereis that he does´nt know how to accompany such train, but Ziereis said.. all is ok. One of the waggons was a refrigerator waggon. Normally it took 30 to 40 minutes to come to Linz, but an this day it took some hours and when the train arrived in Linz all the people in the refrigerator waggon where dead. The attempt at resuscitation was not succesfull and some other detainees killed by bomb terror. After the war Pausch was made accountable and was condemned to death on the 22.10.1947 in Dachau. But Pausch was never in the near of the train meanwhile discharge and charging. He also was not the person in charge of this.
On 11.11.1948 he wrote his last letter to wife and daughter, a son was missed in the war. There he sweared never had beaten or killed a person. Last sentence in this letter: "Die letzten herzlichsten Grüsse und Küsse... Euer Vati"

On 12.11.1948 he was hanged. His last words:

"Lebt wohl Kameraden. Deutschland, Deutschland über alles." and

Interesting small article about Max Pausch, bandleader of the Musikkorps III./SS-VT "Germania", can be found here: http://radolfzell-ns-geschichte.von-unt ... ngehoerige
Max Pausch (1894-1948)

13-15 in Radolfzell.

SS-Standarte in Leipzig.

1940-1941: SS-Rgt. „Nordland“

1941-1943: SS-Ers.Btl. 5 „Wiking“

11.1944: Musikkorps in Berlin

At the end of the war after serving in some Musikkorps in Berlin (SMK der W-SS maybe?) Pausch was a Lagerführer in Mauthausen and later executed by Americans in 1948.
