[Topic title completed by the host, Ivan Ž.]

Is Norbert Schultze and Kurt E. Walter's "Das U-Boot-Lied" a post-war song?

If so, then the versions that are on the Documentary Series CD "In Treue Allezeit", and, "Music Of The Kriegsmarine" CD were recorded in the 1950's?

???

No, not post-war. Recorded in 1942 by Reichsmusikzug des RAD.

Cheers,
Ivan

That's what I thought...beause the versions i've heard had a very 1940's sound.
But I read this song was from the movie "U47 - Kapitänleutnant Prien" and that movie was released in 1958...

Maybe there was a slightly new "alternate" version of the song used in that movie?

The same song was indeed used in the 1958 movie, only the lyrics were slightly modified. A commercial recording of that version was made as well, by Musikkorps der Schutzpolizei Berlin (for Telefunken-Decca).

Cheers,
Ivan
