Hey guys, I wonder if anyone can find me a link to a song called "Hamburg am Elbestrand". I think the song was called that I heard it was once when I was watching a WW2 youtube movie with the Kriegsmarine.

Hello everyone!

According to Fred Prieberg (I know that in some cases he wasn't 100% accurate, but I still haven't found any better source) the song "Hamburg am Elbestrand" based on the verbal accounts of the Kriegsmarine was included in the Soldaten-Liederbuch in 1936. The thing is: As far as I know sometimes more or less actual songs were credited as "based on the verbal accounts" just to give some "background" for the piece. Is this song the case or are there any earlier records of it?

According to the always helpful site deutscheslied.com, it was included in a songbook already in 1935 ("Wanderlust - 130 Volkslieder für Akkordeon", Verlag Oskar Seifert, Leipzig, 1935).
