Is that the version with Rudi Schuricke?Sdt wrote:Are you speaking of the song "Komm zurück" whose authors are Olivieri/Siegel? This one can be found on the Odeon O-31618 disc (WW II version), which I do not have btw

I just realized that Schuricke made at least three different recordings of this same song in 1939; one with Michael Jary, one with Heinz Munsonius, and one with Hans Georg Schütz. Maybe he recorded even more versions during the war...Sdt wrote:This Odeon version is from the band of Michael Jary with Schuricke as singer so yes, I assume it is the same version.
By the way, this was NOT the "song of the Nachtjagd", as you initially wrote. It's just one of many farewell songs (Schlager) and it was created before WWII. The original is Italian: "Tornerai", composed by Dino Olivieri and written by Nino Rastelli. It was an internationally popular song, translated in many languages, among them German as well (a couple of lyrical arrangements were made). Again - NO connection to the Nachtjagd whatsoever.

It's really impossible to know/guess/tell what individuals (not to mention entire military branches) have listened to during the war. One thing is for sure: it was hardly military music. It was most likely the same music their comrades, friends, mothers and sisters were listening to: some peaceful slow songs, sung by soothing voices...mongoose44 wrote:Also if anyone has any other suggestions for music the Luftwaffe mighr have listened to from '41-'45, that would be interesting.
