Jugend trauert [march by E. Hanfstaengl]
Jugend trauert [march by E. Hanfstaengl]
[Two topics dealing with the same march have been merged and renamed by the host, Ivan Ž.]
Hello to all,
I'm trying to build my collection of music that was populair during NS-Germany. Most of the stuff I have, are military marches. That was not the hardest part.
However, recently I heard some classic music, and instantly fell in love with it. This particular theme is used in the ZDF-series: "Hitlers Helfer, Albert Speer, der architekt" and you can hear a good part of it on the end. I also uploaded a short radiosample, in wich the Fuhrer speaks with this music as background. So I've spent days searching for possible titles and authors, came across some music from Wagner, Bruckner and Strauss, but until now, have not found this theme. Perhaps you guys can help me, well, if nobody knows it here, I really give up.
Here is the rapidshare-link of the fragment: http://rapidshare.de/files/30892433/ADOLF.zip.html It's a wav file compressed with zip.
Hope there are some music fanatics that can help me out here. Thanks!
Ohlendorf.

Back again, and so soon!
I have found at last wat I was looking for!
The artist is Wagner, and this masterpiece is called "Overture to Rienzi", it's from an opera I believe. If you're in to classic music, this is a must-have. It was, according to a website, the favorite opera from Hitler. Well what do you know...

Hello Ivan,
I'm confused about what you're saying. If so, these are two different pieces. The background music in the ZDF series Hitler's Helfer is for sure Wagner's Rienzie Overture.
But the music that plays in the fragment uploaded by me, is a different piece? I heard about "Jugend trauert", but could not find it. Would you care to help me find it?
Thanks for the info.

You can locate it with the help of this list: http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 1&t=212742

Ivan, you are correct. I've watched TOTW again and noted the piece playing. It is at the very moment that the Fuhrer brings a tribute, in company of two other men. One of them is (later Reichsfuher SS) Heinrich Himmler in the black uniform, I could not make out who is the person on the other side. Could be Rudolf Hess, but I'm not sure.
Anyway that is the moment we can hear "Jugend trauert" playing.
I'm surprised you could make that list, you really must have a very good knowledge of the 3th reich.
Thank you all so much for the help provided, you can't imagine how much I apreciate it!
