He was a pre/post-war police officer and worked at Hamburger Polizei as Oberstleutnant der Schutzpolizei (Kommandeur die Schutzmannschaft) and as Obermusikinspizient der Ordnungspolizei.
He was known as composer of march music (“Schutz und Trutz”)
Many open questions about this man.

I thought I would add this post to provide information concerning the first and only Inspector of Music of the German Police. Wilhelm Schierhorn was born in 1886. He began his music career with the army in 1905, then continued with the Hamburg Police after WWI. He was selected as the first Inspector of Music of the Ordnungspolizei in 1938. He was a proficient composer and conductor producing a number of works for the police including "Schutz und Trutz", the Präsentiermarsch of the Schutzpolizei.
Schierhorn achieved the rank of Obstlt. d. Polizei and SS-Ostubaf. He was a prisoner of war of the Soviets until 1950, then transfered to the DDR, where because he was considered a war criminal, he was sentenced to seven years as a war criminal. The sentence was commuted in 1952 and he returned to West Germany where he died in 196.

Hello,
A thorough book on that man was recently written: Leben und musikalisches Werk von Wilhelm Schierhorn.
It also contains a CD with Marschmusik related to Schierhorn.
Let me know if you are looking for a specific information as I have the book and CD.

Hello, ansata1976
If you click on his profile, you'll see that SQ37 hasn't been active on the forum since 2015. So, not much point in addressing him.
The CD accompanies the book, so search for the book online. I used to know the tracklist, but I don't remember it anymore. I think that the super-rare "Abendweihe" (Großer Zapfenstreich der Deutschen Polizei) was on it, among various historical police recordings.
Cheers,
Ivan
