Nearly every officer on the picture is either a former Wehrmacht director of music or a student of a former military music school.Source: Masuhr, Fritz/BMVg [Hrsg.]: Die Militärmusik in der Bundeswehr. Militärmusik-Geschichte 1955 - 1975

Fantastic picture!
Recognized some of the quite famous names of Bundeswehr music officers:
Major Hans Herzberg, Major Helmut Schaal, Major Rudolf Marrenbach (Luftwaffe), Major Gerhard Scholz (probably the most famous of them all), Oberstleutnant Friedrich Deisenroth, Oberst Wilhelm Stephan, Oberstleutnant Karl Schneider, Major Johannes Schade (Luftwaffe)
At least 5 of the officers in the picture led the Stabsmusikkorps der Bundeswehr (Deisenroth, Schneider, Herzberg, Scholz, Schaal)
Edit: I missed out a name, Major Hans Friess' as well but I understood he was former Luftwaffe officer

Thank you again, Fallersleben! That photo of Scholz I see for the first time, to be honest!

Re: Gerhard Scholz
Fallersleben,
Thanks for the fantastic pictures. Do you have any infos on Gerhard Scholz's service with the Wehrmacht as well as the rest of the Bundeswehr bandleaders as well?
I once saw a picture of Scholz wearing the Iron Cross Class II ribbon on his jacket.

Re: Gerhard Scholz
He served as a musician in the Infanterie-Regiment 67, then he was a director of music in the Artillerie-Regiment 56. In the WWII he commanded a battery as an officer, for that he was awarded with the EK II.

Thanks for posting, everyone!
The few posts dealing with Wilhelm Stephan and Friedrich Deisenroth have been split off into topics of their own.
Cheers,
Ivan
