Soldatenlied aus Polen (Wir liegen auf Stroh...)

Hello All,

I've got a few general questions about Hans Klingsporn's "Soldat in Polen". I've had the record for quite a while now, and I initially received it free from a kind seller when i ordered a few records. It seems to be a very common record to be found for a song that is clearly a propaganda piece, and it seems relatively undesirable compared to say, "Weichsel und Warthe", which is a comparable song in that it is about the operations in Poland, although musically speaking I'd consider them part of two distinct genera. Any one care to shed some light on the history of this piece for me? I'm also looking for a verified set of lyrics, as I've listened through it a few times and have a basic idea of them, but I'm obviously not a native speaker of German and have a hard time understanding the louder and deeper parts.

"Lied der Deutschen in Polen" (which was incorporated as trio in Prof. Schmidt's "Marsch der Deutschen in Polen" named "Weichsel und Warthe") pre-dates WWII; so it's not about the operations in Poland (as in WWII-operations, that is). Only Prof. Schmidt's march (the instrumental part) was created for WWII ("Weichsel und Warthe" is the title of the march, not of the song).

Cheers,
Ivan

Many thanks for the original printed lyrics, Ivan. I looked for them for a very long time but was unable to find them. I'm also looking for the lyrics to the obscure "Europa marschiert!" from Odeon O-26482. The record itself is also high on my want list, but has sold for far too much the last few times I've seen it. Any idea on they lyrics though?
Thanks
Alex

Nothing at the moment. But feel free to start a separate topic with this request (let's keep the forum easily searchable; no one will look for the lyrics of "Europa marschiert" in the topic called "Soldatenlied aus Polen" ).

Cheers,
Ivan
