:?
Hi all forum members ,
this is the story of the cpluoru pic...more or less:
The photos show one of the most 'dramatic so-called
"Battle of the Hillock" which occurred on the morning of September 9
1943.

After a truce agreed locally with the Italians soldiers, the
German paratroopers took advantage to gain favorable positions
to move towards the center of the city of Rome, finding the open
and beyond the means of Genoa Cavalry soldiers with the blinds AB41.

These react and launched a counterattack with two armored cars
which were centered and set on fire by anti-tank stationed in
training Laurentina triangle on the road, just behind a
curva.

In the first picture you see in the foreground a dead
tank crewman burn out of the picture blindo.nelle subsequent PK and
his assistant seek shelter from the heat response of Italian soldiers and
... fleeing the fire came from the back of the building
Tannery and Oven Roscioni .. (you see in the background
left, still present) onto another picture we see an FJ
wounded in the left leg lying on the ground ... I know a picture with a
sidecar with three injured down the road towards
otherwise.
Cheers

Hello to all :D; a little complement on this subject................

Nach Rom hinein - 10 Sep 1943.

In the evening on September 7, 1943 took place the meeting of General Maxwell Taylor and USAF Col Gardiner with representatives of the Italian High Command to discuss details of the operation "Giant 2" which provided for the use of the 82nd Airborne Division after the announcement of the armistice, but General Carboni who was Commander of the Corpo d'Armata Motocorazzato, did not ensure the availability of the Rome airport and gave a fairly critical framework of the situation. The operation was canceled.

On September 8, 1943 in the evening, General Eisenhower disgusted with the attitude of the Italians decided to give notice about the terms of the armistice between the Allies and Italy. General Badoglio confirmed the existence of the armistice.

Hello to all :D; more follows................

Nach Rom hinein - 10 Sep 1943.

The 2 FJD was alarmed on September 8, 1943, Maj. Mors had heard at 20:00 hours the capitulation of Italy through the American station of Palermo, with that news Feldmarschall Kesselring gave freedom of action to the Fallschirmkorps XI and from Frascati was issued the code word "Flohzirkus" (Flea Circus) . That night the King, the government and top military leaders moved to Pescara. The divisions Ariete II, Centauro II, and Piave belonging to the Corpo d'Armata Motocorazzato were sent to Tivoli where they stayed without intervening.

At dawn on September 10, 1943 a battle group of the 2 FJD commanded by Maj v. der Heydte began moving with the task of entering Rome and break the resistance of the Italian troops in the city.

Hello to all :D; more follows................

Nach Rom hinein - 10 Sep 1943.

Upon reaching the southwestern edge of the city, the paratroopers received fire from the Division Grenadiers of Sardinia. The III. / FJR 6 of Maj. Pelz required fire support from the 4. / Fsch Art Rgt 2 of Hauptmann Milch. Shortly afterwards arrived at the place Maj. v. der Heydte who led the attack on his vehicle, while two light howitzers of 105 mm supported it unleashing direct fire from about 200 meters.

Hello to all :D; the end................

Nach Rom hinein - 10 Sep 1943.

After reaching the resistance line of the radio station of Rome, von der Heydte ordered that Hauptmann Milch penetrate further into the city. Upon reaching the obelisk at Via Ostiense the paratroopers found several armored vehicles which opened fire on the column, but were repulsed by the artillery battery. For September 11, 1943 the remnants of Italian troops had laid down their arms.

Hi to all,
I'm too researching a bit military operations in Rome, September 1943.
Actually I'm searching for a serius Gliederung for 2.FJ.Div. during this timeline.
Also, has anyone identified the Sd.Kfz.222 from the first page of this topic? Does it belong to 2.FJ.Div. or not?

I posted the same question in Missing Lynx forum

http://www.network54.com/Forum/47207/me ... mber+1943-

but I got no anwer up to date.

If anyone is interested I got a really authoritative answer from Martin Block regarding the assence of Sd.Kfz.131 MarderII with
