Hi all,

how many classes of the Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe were created and what were they? And what year(s) were the classes introduced?

Two classes?

Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe.
Introduced 1942.

Erdkampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe - Sonder Klasse (mit einsatzzahl)
for engagements with numbers 25, 50, 75, 100.
Introduced 1944.

He was awarded with oak leaves to his Knight's Cross, he fought in the Netherlands, Crete as well as Anzio. After the war he became a general in the Bundeswehr, a rank he did not reach in the Luftwaffe. In the Bundeswehr he would command an airborne unit like he did in the Luftwaffe.

He received the Knight's Cross while serving in the Fallschirmjäger-Sturm-Regiment after the Crete campaign.

A Sturm-Brigade was named after him and was used to form one of the last FJ-divisions.
