#1

Post by Raffaele » 24 Jun 2010, 09:56

Can anybody tell me something about Fsch.Pz.Jg.-Abteilung 4 and Fsch.Flak-Abteilung 4 (composition and armament), especially about II. Bttr. Fsch.Flak-Abt. 4 in summer (June) 1944?
Many thanks, raffaele

I only have a later actual strenght report from 1.9.1944 available where Fallschirm-Flak-Abt. 4 is shown with:

1. Bttr. = 5 towed Flak 8,8 cm, 2 Flak 2 cm on half-tracks
2. Bttr. = 4 towed Flak 8,8 cm, 2 Flak 2 cm on half-tracks
3. Bttr. = 5 towed Flak 8,8 cm, 2 Flak 2 cm on half-tracks
4. Bttr. = 4 Flak 3,7 cm on half-tracks, 1 towed Flak 3,7 cm
5. Bttr. = 6 Vierlings-Flak 2 cm on half tracks, 1 Flak 2 cmon half-track

For Fallsch.Pz.Jg.Abt. 4 the report shows:

1. Kp. = 3 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40
2. Kp. = 5 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40, 2 Leichtgeschütze 10,5 cm
3. Kp. = 4 towed 3,7 cm Pak 35/36, 6? (hard to read) towed 7,5 cm Pak 40, ? (illegible) m.Gr.Wf.
In addition to that there were 12 Rak.Pz.Bü. (Ofenrohr/Panzerschreck), 6 or 8 'Püppchen' where I'm not sure if the 2. or 3. Kp. had them.
Some time earlier, on 1.4.1944, it had looked like this:
1. Kp. = 6 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40
2. Kp. = 1 towed 5 cm Pak 38, 6 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40
3. Kp. = 6 towed 3,7 cm Pak, 6 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40

This might give you an impression. The authorized strenght of the 2 units were:

Fallschirm-Flak-Abt. 4
1. - 3. Bttr. = each 6 towed Flak 8,8 cm, 3 towed Flak 2 cm
4. Bttr. = 12 Flak 3,7 cm on half-tracks
5. Bttr. = 12 Flak 2 cm on half-tracks

Fallschirm-Pz.Jg.Abt. 4
1. - 3. Kp. = each 12 towed 7,5 cm Pak 40

Hi, Martin, did Fsch.Flak-Abt. 1 organized in the same way in June 1944 ( actual or authorized ) ?

I see Flak unit with 3,7 cm on half track are always nine vehicles, but this divison authorized number is twelve, which one is correct ?
